Flower Go Walk

I love the original black-and-white Flower Go Walk, a pedometer pet designed by Takashi Murakami of Superflat fame. There are so many little adventures to take the flower on, with the places you visit on the device getting progressively farther away (ie. requiring more steps) - and new characters to encounter along the way. The slow introduction of game mechanics during the first few hours and days is an especially nice touch!

A yellow Flower Go Walk, a digital device in the shape of a pixelated flower, with four pink buttons and a black-and-white LCD screen depicting a smiling flower with the same design as the device itself. The same Flower Go Walk, being held in my hand, with stones and plants blurry in the background. The flower on the screen is wearing shades and a beret this time.

Reset Bug Fix

There's an issue with some Flower Go Walk devices where they can reset after replacing batteries. It's a huge bummer to lose weeks of progress... luckily it can be fixed if you have some soldering skills!

You need to replace the faulty quartz oscillator/resonator (circled below). It's a 6mm x 2mm, 32.768 kHz through-hole cylindrical crystal, available from sources like DigiKey or Mouser
